SMETA
What is SMETA?
SMETA is an audit procedure that brings together good practices in an ethical audit technique. It is not a code of conduct, a new methodology or a certification process.By using SMETA, a vendor can conduct an audit and share it with several clients, instead of having to do different audits for each client.
The SMETA methodology uses the ETI code and local laws as an assessment tool. It includes four modules:
- Health and Safety
- Labor Standards
- Environment (optional)
- Business ethics (optional)
